    Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is an award-winning health system based in Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston’s metro-north communities. CHA provides innovative primary, specialty and emergency care to our diverse patient population through an established network of ambulatory clinics, an urgent care site and two full service hospitals.     Cambridge Health Alliance is seeking a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to oversee operations and development of the CHA healthcare delivery system which provides high quality, safe, convenient and efficient health care services to the surrounding communities.

    The incoming CMO, reporting to the CEO, will work with Senior Leadership to support strategy development and implementation, ensure integration of care services and process with CHA’s accountable care and population health functions and successfully achieve CHA’s vision and strategic plan in response to market opportunities, trends and requirements.

    The CMO will oversee physician practice development, ensure implementation of medical staff services, and provide direction and support for the accountable care organization (ACO). The CMO will also ensure integration of ACO functions with primary care services. Collaborating with CHA’s Chief Academic Officer and department Chiefs, the CMO will promote the academic mission and continuing medical education programs for the medical staff, graduate, and post-graduate staff.

    Ideal candidates for the CMO role will have substantial experience as an exemplary physician leader within an acute care hospital or health system. The incoming CMO will be required to have superior interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and presentation skills.  Successful track record of driving change and quality initiatives in addition to engagement and satisfaction of medical staff are desired.  Additionally, the incoming CMO should be a clinician with extensive experience in clinical practice.

    Applicants are required to have graduated from an accredited medical school, be board certified in their clinical discipline, and possess or be eligible to apply for a MA state license. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience demonstrating progressive administrative and clinical leadership.
